K-pop sensation BTS’s Jungkook is set to headline the ‘2023 Global Citizen Festival’ in New York’s Central Park, according to Big Hit Music, citing the official Global Citizen SNS.
Jungkook’s Involvement in Global Citizen Festival
The Global Citizen Festival is a large-scale charity concert organized by the international civil movement Global Citizen. Aimed at raising awareness about global issues such as extreme poverty, hunger, and climate change, this event has been held annually since 2012. Jungkook’s participation as a headliner marks a significant milestone as he is the first K-pop solo artist to do so.
BTS’s Previous Participation
BTS had previously performed at the event in 2021, where they staged performances of ‘Permission to Dance’ and ‘Butter’ against the backdrop of Korea’s national treasure, Sungnyemun. This year, Jungkook shares the headliner spotlight with rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and pop star Lauryn Hill.
Jungkook’s Excitement and Upcoming Activities
Jungkook expressed his excitement about headlining this year’s ‘Global Citizen Festival’, stating, “I’m really excited to participate as a headliner in this meaningful festival. I’m happy to be able to join this festival and I can’t wait to perform in front of everyone.” Jungkook is also gearing up for his performance at the ‘2023 MTV Video Music Awards’ in Newark, New Jersey, where his hit song ‘Seven’ is a nominee in the ‘Song of Summer’ category.
